We're taking Inpatient Rehabilitation to a whole new level

Today, the 6th floor of Sparrow Hospital is under construction to become the comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation facility that will ensure the best possible medical treatment and the most positive Patient experience.

This new Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will offer larger private rooms for our Patients, on-site therapy gyms, family support space and a healing environment that complements evidence-based, best practices in Patient care. Mary Free Bed at Sparrow will combine all aspects of adult rehabilitation care and therapy in one convenient area. With an average length of stay exceeding 17 days, such features are critical for Patient comfort and success. One Patient recently stayed for 85 days.

Sparrow cares for 432 Inpatient Rehabilitation Patients annually. Of the current Patient population, 49% have sustained strokes. Additional conditions making rehabilitation treatment necessary include closed head injuries, neurological disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's and Parkinson's Disease, amputation of a limb, paraplegia, cancer (brain tumor de-bulking causing paralysis), trauma related injuries, skeletal fractures and auto accidents. Mary Free Bed at Sparrow will provide intensive neurological, orthopedic, and stroke rehab care to our region.

We're still not done. You can make a difference in our community. World-class rehabilitative care can mean the difference not only between life and death, but life and quality of life. Please continue to lend us your support so that we can further enhance the best care for the people in our region.
